Island

Limnos

Board Academy’s surf camps take place on the stunning Greek island of Limnos, located in the northern Aegean Sea. This peaceful, windswept island is a hidden gem — offering golden beaches, crystal-clear water, and the perfect conditions for water sports.

Limnos is one of Greece’s least crowded and most naturally preserved islands — perfect for an adventure-focused camp. Known for its wide, sandy beaches, calm shallow bays, and steady wind conditions, the island is ideal for kitesurfing, windsurfing, SUP, and kayaking.

Beyond the beach, Limnos offers:

-Traditional villages and local cuisine

-Volcanic rock formations and sand dunes

-A relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere

-Authentic Greek island culture without the crowds

It’s the ultimate playground for kids and teens to enjoy nature, try new sports, and create lifelong memories.

For Campers Traveling from Bulgaria

Most participants from Bulgaria travel as a group, accompanied by our team.

Step 1: Travel from Sofia to Kavala (by car/van)

We depart from Sofia in the early morning and travel by highway to the Greek port city of Kavala. The drive takes approximately 4 hours including rest stops.

Step 2: Ferry from Kavala to Limnos

From Kavala, we board a ferry to Limnos, a journey of about 4.5 hours depending on the ferry schedule.

Step 3: Transfer from Myrina to Lichna Bay

Upon arrival at the port in Myrina (the capital of Limnos), we take a short 20-minute drive to our base at Lichna Bay, where the campers will spend most of their time.

For Campers Traveling from Abroad

By Air

Limnos is served by Limnos International Airport (LXS), with flights from Athens and other regional hubs.

We offer airport pick-up for any child or teen flying independently. Please contact us in advance to coordinate arrival times.

Alternatively, international participants can choose to meet us in Kavala, either by flying into Thessaloniki and driving down, or directly reaching the ferry port. Our team will assist with guidance and logistics.

Bay

Lychna

Lichna Bay is a calm, enclosed inlet located in the heart of Limnos Island - and the home of Board Academy’s surf camp base.

This unique location offers exceptional conditions for beginner surfers, especially children. The crystal-clear, shallow waters remain knee-deep for up to 50 meters, creating a natural, safe environment for learning and playing. At low tide, the shallow area extends even further, giving campers plenty of space to move freely and safely.

One of the bay’s most important features is its offshore wind combined with its fully enclosed geography. There is no direct outlet to the open sea, which makes it particularly safe for all types of watersports and ideal for young surfers who are just starting out.

Our Board Academy base is located directly on the beach, where children spend most of their day engaged in sports, games, and group activities. Throughout the entire day, our team of certified instructors and experienced camp leaders supervise all participants, ensuring both safety and a structured, positive atmosphere.

Another key advantage of Lichna Bay is that it is free from other surf schools or commercial operations. This gives us a quiet, private space where we can focus entirely on the kids’ development, fun, and wellbeing - without distractions or crowds.

Base

Boardacademy

Our surf camp base is located on a spacious area of 14 acres and is created exclusively for children and youth. The environment and programs are fully tailored to the needs of young people and offer a safe, active, and inspiring seaside experience.

We have our own surf base and top-level equipment from one of the world’s leading manufacturers, Duotone. This is especially important for children and young people, as it allows them to progress faster, more easily, and more safely. We provide full equipment for windsurfing, wing foiling, kayaking, SUP, and other water sports.

The surf base is located only 20 meters from the sea, ensuring extremely fast access to the water and maximum time for water activities.

Within the base area we have a professional gymnastics trampoline built into the ground, as well as outdoor fitness equipment for additional physical training. Safety is our top priority. We have two high speed rescue boats that are always on standby in the bay during activities.

Our Philosophy

Our surf camps are not standard holiday programs. They are a specially created environment for development, social interaction, and personal growth. At the core of our philosophy are clear rules and methodologies that distinguish our camp and create real value for children and young people.

We encourage active time spent in nature, away from screens and digital distractions. During the camp, mobile phones are stored by our team in order to provide a natural, calm, and social environment where children can communicate fully, build friendships, and stay completely engaged in the experience. Phones are returned once per day so children can speak with their parents, and our team is available to parents throughout the entire day.

Sports and competitive culture play a central role in our program and are not simply a way to fill time. We emphasize traditional physical training through team based competitive games and activities that develop discipline, responsibility, and teamwork skills. We show children that every victory brings advantages and that success is achieved through cooperation, respect, and unity.

We understand that summer is a time for rest, fun, and freedom for children and young people, away from daily obligations and pressure. At the same time, we insist that the camp remains a place with a peaceful, positive, and friendly atmosphere. The use of offensive language or rude and unfriendly behavior among participants is not tolerated and leads to clearly defined consequences.

Our goal is to create an environment where children feel free, safe, and respected while developing sports skills, social awareness, and values that will serve them long after the camp ends.

  • The camp is suitable for children and young people who
  • Have a desire and interest in spending more time in nature
  • Have always wanted to try water sports
  • Want to improve their water sports skills
  • Are looking for an unconventional summer adventure
  • Want a break from their parents
  • Want to spend time with friends and peers
  • Want to improve their physical culture and fitness and enjoy sports
  • Want to challenge themselves
  • Are considering pursuing water sports professionally

The tents are located close to the kitchen, 50 meters from the sea, and are protected from the wind. We have camping style toilets, showers, and changing rooms that provide everything needed to maintain good hygiene.

Note: Important Notice

Our tent camp is located in an open environment. Conditions are camping style, not those of a five-star hotel. We consciously choose this type of accommodation because we believe that living close to nature is an important part of the camp experience and helps build independence, adaptability, and respect for the surrounding environment.

HEALTHY EATING HABITS

HEALTHY EATING HABITS

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided for the children and are prepared in our kitchen by a professional chef.

At Board Academy, we strive to promote a healthy lifestyle and mindful food choices throughout the children’s stay. Our chef uses organic vegetables sourced directly from local farmers on the island, while the bread, cheese, and dairy products come from a local bakery, ensuring quality and freshness. Our team also aims to reduce the consumption of fast food, such as conventional Coca-Cola products, candy, and chips. Our goal is to provide a varied and nutritionally balanced diet, while taking into account the needs and preferences of each child.

Leonie Trodl

Since then, she has immersed herself fully, now competing on the Wingfoil World Tour in both Freestyle and FreeFly-Slalom disciplines. Her love for wingfoiling drives her to spend as much time in the water as possible, whether training, exploring new spots around the globe, or simply enjoying the freedom of the ride. Leonie’s enthusiasm is infectious, and she’s always eager to share her passion with others, inspiring those around her through both her talent and her energy.

Emily Trodl

Emily Trodl

This is Emily. She’s 19 years old and originally from Austria. She first got into watersports at around the age of 12, and by 16, she had already started wing foiling. But it was last summer that her passion for the sport truly took off.  While she spends her winters skiing and snowboarding back home, Emily has always felt more at home by the sea. She loves surfing, wake surfing, and especially wing foiling. Recently, she decided to leave the cold Austrian winters behind and move to the south of Spain—not only to study but also to follow her dream of living by the sea.

Lukas Lam
Wingfoil Coach

Lukas Lam

Lukas Lam is a 23-year-old professional freestyle wingfoiler with a lifelong passion for sports. From a young age, he was drawn to all kinds of athletic pursuits, constantly exploring new ways to challenge himself. That curiosity eventually led him to wingfoiling about two years ago—and it was love at first ride. Since then, Lukas has dedicated himself to the sport, pushing his limits on the water and inspiring others along the way. His mission is to share his love for watersports and help bring more people into the world of wingfoiling.
